It's been a while since there has been any significant news to report regarding the development of TheatreX. This does NOT mean, however, that nothing is happening. Because TheatreX is an independent, self-funded venture - the busier I am with freelance theatre work - the better it is for TheatreX. Luckily, it's been a very busy 6 months.
This time has also been spent further developing the structure of the company and what sort of shows we may produce. I've recently started writing a new script that I am eyeing for the December slot of our inaugural season and am planning to start work on a new Halloween show after that.
One aspect of theatre which we want to explore is how theatre can foster discourse and affect social change, or at the very least, give society an opportunity to view itself from a different perspective. I've just started looking at two relatively new plays that could fit this mold. One is about the genocide in Darfur and the other is about some American soldiers in Iraq. What political based subjects or social issues would you want to see addressed in a TheatreX production?
In other news, we hope to have the official logo done soon!
