Among the goals of TheatreX is to produce new and original works for the stage. However, it should be noted that “new and original” does not necessarily mean “written by company members.” We aim to actively pursue and solicit new works, with a focus on Minnesota playwrights. In fact, we are currently working on our inaugural season plan, which will shine the spotlight on local playwrights in a BIG, BIG way.
Also, thanks to the Northeaster and The Journal newspapers for some recent coverage! Exciting things are happening in the Northeast theatre scene and more is sure to come.

- We are a new, independent theatre company currently in development. TheatreX will be based in Northeast Minneapolis and will serve Northeast and the surrounding communities of Columbia Heights and St. Anthony Village. Joe Hendren (TheatreX Founder, Artistic Director, and Producer) is a freelance Writer, Director, Actor, Producer, and Theatre Artist. Joe grew up in Columbia Heights and went on to study Theatre Arts at the University of MN. Since then, he has worked extensively with local theatres and has won several area playwriting competitions for his short plays KILLING TIME, ENCORE, COMMITTED, and DETOUR. Other original plays that have been produced locally include SNOW WHITE & THE 7 SAMURAI, an adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett’s A LITTLE PRINCESS, and the gore-filled 3 RING TERROR. He has recently appeared in productions of CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF, THE LION IN WINTER, and THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE.
